UK GLP-1 Price Tracker

UK private prescription prices for GLP-1 weight loss injections have fallen steadily since late 2024. Several factors are driving this trend:

• Increased competition. Multiple UK providers — including online pharmacies such as Boots, LloydsPharmacy, and independent online clinics — have entered the market, driving prices down through competition.
• Expanding NHS access. As NICE guidelines and NHS specialist weight management services have expanded eligibility for Wegovy and Mounjaro, private demand has softened at high price points.
• Supply stabilisation. Global supply shortages that pushed prices up in 2023–2024 have largely resolved as manufacturing capacity increased.
• Patent and biosimilar landscape. The anticipation of semaglutide biosimilars (Novo Nordisk's Ozempic patent challenged in multiple jurisdictions) is putting downward pressure on branded pricing.
• Saxenda displacement. Saxenda's lower efficacy relative to newer agents means providers are pricing it more aggressively to remain competitive.

Analysts expect prices to continue declining through 2026–2027 as biosimilar entrants reach the UK market and NHS commissioning increases.
